Generally, employers can ask to check your credit history, and if you say no, they can refuse to hire or promote you, or allow you to keep your job. Connecticut has limited employers' use of credit history to hire or promote for some specific positions, usually involving the handling of money or financial information. However, there are still many exceptions, and you may be required to provide your credit history for the job.
