  • As an employee, you have the right to inspect your personnel file. Your employer must provide this information to you within 7 days of your request.
  • As a former employee, you have up to a year to inspect your former file, and your former employer must show it to you within 10 days of your request.
  • If your employer lawfully uses your credit history to make a negative employment decision against you, federal law requires that the employer inform you of the company that provided the credit history. You should contact that company if you think any of the information is wrong.
